When speaking to the multitudes, Jesus often taught them in PARABLES, simple stories about common events, circumstances and things that His listeners could easily relate to. Most of the people that Jesus addressed were simple folk, and He knew that even the CHILDREN would be interested in His message if He presented it by using such illustrated stories.

The “PARABLE OF THE SOWER” is one of the few parables that is found in three different Gospels: . . .  read more

“When I was in my first year of college, I started going out with a real sweet boy. We went many places and had a lot of good times together. He was very sweet and loved the Lord, but he was the silent type–very into himself, shy and untalkative. I liked him very much and I THINK he liked me a lot too! I have to say I THINK he was quite fond of me; I wasn’t really SURE because we never really communicated very much. We hardly ever spoke together about anything . . .  read more

Hang Time

In [American] football, “hang time” refers to how long the pigskin remains aloft after being kicked. In basketball, it’s the length of time a player is suspended as he soars through the air to dunk the ball. In the unexpected adventure of evangelism, “hang time” refers to something else: hanging out with your seeking friends long enough to really get to know them, to understand their questions and concerns, to deepen the trust between you, and to allow yourselves to . . .  read more

I love Peter 5:5: God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble. That single verse, I call it the law of favor, is at the core of my spiritual operating system.

God can’t bless pride. God won’t bless pride. But if we cultivate a posture of humility, you can’t stop God from blessing, from favoring, from gracing. All I know is this: I don’t want God opposing me! So my only option is to cultivate a spirit of humility.

I’m more and more convinced that  . . .  read more

“For the love of Christ constrains us.” (2 Corinthians 5:14)

What do you have a vision for? What do you have faith for? What do you yourself expect God to do this year, not next year? What can you see happening right now and from now on? What do you personally plan to do about it? What do you personally hope to do about it and want to do about it?

The most uncomfortable place for a Christian is a comfortable place. One of the greatest dangers is the feeling that you’ve . . .  read more

He came to Earth as a tiny, weak and helpless baby, born to a simple, humble young girl who miraculously conceived the Child, having never slept with any man! In fact, the news of her pregnancy was so shocking that when the man to whom she was engaged to be married learned about it, he promptly decided to break the engagement and call off the wedding.–Until a powerful Heavenly Being intervened and instructed him to stay with her and rear and protect . . .  read more
